Short Films.

I've been watching a few shorts films on YouTube just to get a clear understanding for myself how I should be writing my screenplay. All along I thought I was writing a screenplay about a feature length film. I was wrong to think that because I realized that for a fifteen page screenplay is a probably the first act in a feature film. I realized that my first act should only be about five pages. All along I've been stressing myself out! Well, after I realized this a couple weeks ago in class, I've been feeling stuck. So I went on YouTube to get some ideas. Have you guys heard of WongFuProductions? Well in the beginning, they were an independent company they formed together in college. The story goes that they ended up majoring in film at UCSD and have become very successful creating short films on YouTube. I remember seeing a lot of their stuff, but it was just for entertainment. I re-watched their shorts and I saw it in a different perspective. They were creating shorts in 10-15 minutes, and I thought to myself that my screenplay should come out to be around that length if I were to record it. I seriously had to sit down and tell myself, "Calm down." Maybe it's because I'm a perfectionist, but I just had a nervous breakdown that I needed this screenplay to be the best. Well, now that I'm able to breathe, I just hope the first act of my screenplay is good. It doesn't have to be perfect, but at least I gave it a try. Well, I encourage you all to watch some of the shorts from WongFuProduction on YouTube. They're pretty good.
